HEALTHY AND CHEAP FOOD
When we
think of healthy and nutritious diets, we think of fancy names and expensive
foods. However, this idea may be
misleading. In an Instagram post on the
handle 'Nutrition by Lavneet', nutritionist Lavneet Batra says that a healthy
diet does not have to be expensive, and a lot of affordable foods are easily
available. These foods are healthy and
can be easily included in our daily diet.
In fact, most of us eat them occasionally, but perhaps do not know what
are the health benefits of them.
1. Spinach
People now increasingly include leafy
vegetables in their diets, knowing that they have many health benefits. You can add it to salads, pulao and soup and
make smoothies. Spinach is easily
available in the market. It is rich in
vitamin K, which plays an important role in bone health and reduces the risk of
heart disease and cancer.
2. Moong Dal
This pulse is rich in protein and fiber and
low in calories. It helps repair and
build muscles and can make us feel full for longer periods of time. This is a great option for those who prefer
vegetarian food and want to increase their protein intake.
3. Banana
We all have eaten bananas. In fact, whenever we felt lack of energy in
childhood, our elders used to advise us to eat banana. They are affordable, versatile, and rich in
nutrients, including potassium, fiber, calcium, manganese, magnesium, iron,
folate, niacin, riboflavin, and B6.
4. Bajra
One of the
most common grains, it is widely consumed in India. The interesting thing is that it is often
called the staple food of the poor, but it would be wrong to see it that
way. Millet is a rich source of energy,
calories and protein. It is full of
resistant starch, soluble and insoluble dietary fiber, minerals, and
antioxidants.
